Reverse Logistics: Shippers save planet... and lots of money

LAS VEGAS—6 February 2008—Shippers attending the Reverse Logistics Association’s (RLA) Conference and Expo here were told that they were doing more to save the planet than “tree-huggers.”

“While I care as deeply as anyone about nature, I don’t call myself an environmentalist,” declared Galen Vick, president and CEO of RLA. “Like you, I’m concerned about using fewer resources to achieve the same goals… which means a greater return on investment.”

Individual attendance was at a record high for the event, noted Vick, but more importantly, the number of companies represented also set a precedent. According to the conference keynote speaker, that’s because the substantial long-term benefits of going “green” are no longer a secret.
