The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directive (2002/95/EC) aims to protect human health and the environment through the restricted use of certain hazardous substances and to complement the WEEE Directive.
RoHS will become a law in the UK on 1 July 2006 and will affect manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
